‘Orfebres’ honours my Colombian heritage and the golden relics at the Museo del Oro in Bogotá. The name comes from orfebrería, goldsmithing.

The original artefacts: a Tolima figure, a sundial, an African mask, a Tolima bird pendant, a Musée de l'Or book and a gold ornamental band

These pieces are re-inventions of pre-Columbian pieces of gold ware, such as anthropomorphic figures from Tolima culture. A celebration of beautiful heritage from native craftspeople, adapted for the digital age.

They are also influenced by artefacts that reflect a wider context of the age of exploration and colonisation in the timeline that brings these treasures to museum displays today.
